Who is a good source for veneer, specifically ebony color and green color veneer I can use for making rosettes and purfling? Rockler's doesn't carry it and Constantines is out of stock with no projected stock arriving anytime soon. I'd like to stay away from LMI and StewMac if possible, but may have to use them if I can't find an alternate source. Thanks! John |

I usually use Macassar ebony from constantines when I want black or dark brown. i actually prefer to not have dyed woods or something purely black (looks like plastic to me), so it not being of perfectly homogenous color is fine for me. You could of course, use maple or holly and dye them yourself, or use fish paper for the black. LMI is the only other source I can think of. Best wishes, Joshua |

Check out www.joewoodworker.com . Not only does he sell everything needed to do vacuum clamping and pressing, he also has an online store with a very interesting selection of veneers. There are a number of sellers on eBay that sell veneer also. |

John, I have a friend of mine who I'm going into business with, and he just emailed me today to tell me he just made a huge purchase of veneers. He's got birds-eye maple, ebony, mahogany, but I'm not sure about the colored stuff. Just let me know exactly what you need, and I'll hook you up. Tracy |
